Peptides play a significant role in the successful treatment of ageing skin, pigmentation and skin inflammation. While anti-oxidants provide unparalleled anti-oxidant protection for your skin, Peptides signal the skin to behave in very specific ways.
These tiny little protein fragments can signal your skin to produce collagen and elastin; reduce discoloration known as pigmentation even control inflammation, redness and heat when you have sensitive skin. This makes Peptides one of the most versatile and exciting skin care ingredients to enter medical-grade skin care formulas.
Peptide-rich formulations targeted at various skin concerns are typically formulated in a cream or serum base for absorption into your skin. The type of Peptide selected, the quality and concentrations used in the product means everything when it comes to whether or not you see a result.
You get what you pay for with Peptide-based medical-grade corrective skincare. Peptide-rich skincare products will range in price point but the fact is this technology does come at a price – a premium price. A complex and intricate chemistry is applied during the creation of peptide skincare formulas. Why you ask? To enable those peptides to be delivered into deeper layers of your skin where they’re needed for skin rejuvenation.

What is the right age to start using Peptide-based skincare products?
Each decade that you age your skin is losing its density of collagen and elastin and your pigment or skin colour is starting to produce itself in very uneven patterns. The sooner you introduce these powerful skin regenerators the better! Your skin will only use up the amount it is deficient in in order to stay balanced. By your mid-late 20s you would want to start incorporating at least one specialised peptide-rich product and work your way from there.

I get worried with my skin as I break out with most creams and treatments.
But if I leave it I get dry skin, would this be suitable?
Hey Claudia,
Thank you for your question.
I’m Lara, I’m a skin and wellness therapist for Skin Health Emporium.
I highly recommend Hydr8 B5 serum from Medik8 for pure hydration and plumping – This product is excellent for under the eyes or hard to reach places! Also, Super Moisturising Complex by Aspect is excellent for anti ageing, hydration, fine lines and it’s packed full of peptides and antioxidants 🙂
