Skin Conditions
Your Skin Conditions differ from your Skin Type because causes your skin conditions can be varied, they can come and go depending on weather, your lifestyle habits including exercise and smoking, diet, medications, stress, hormones and UV exposure. You can have up to 5 skin conditions at a time whereas you only have one Skin Type.
One of the first things we suggest is to become mindful of when your skin conditions are present and where, what and how they may have been triggered.
Becoming intuitive with your skin will empower you to make the correct and effective skincare product choices to combat the conditions as quickly and safely as possible.

The Sensitised Skin Condition is a cheeky skin condition because it can be confused as a Sensitive Skin Type. A Sensitive Skin Condition can happen to anyone, there does not have to be a genetic predisposition as in the case of a Sensitive Skin Type.
Knowing the triggers of your sensitised skin is critical to keeping it under control and ensuring your skin can heal and recover in a steady and safe manner for the long term skin health.

Pigmented
Pigmented
Itches appear darker during hormonal peaks and warmer seasons especially Summer.
These light to dark brown patches of colour are caused by specialised cells in your skin called Melanocytes and they are responsible for producing your genetic skin colour, also known as pigment. These intelligent pigment producing cells are designed to protect us primarily from the sun. UV light excites these cells and causes them to over-produce colour resulting in darker patches forming and this is why you may be noticing your pigmentation seems to be worse in Summer more so than Winter.
In addition, hormonal changes, medications and inflammation can have just as big an impact of the behaviour of these sensitive colour producing cells so the key to successful treatment is knowing your triggers and causes.

Dehydrated
Dehydrated
This most common mistake made by people with dehydrated skin is to describe it as being ‘dry’. This misconception, more often than not, results in the purchase of an oil rich nourishing moisturiser to try and solve the ‘dryness’ but to no avail.
The correct use of the term ‘dry’ is used in the context of Skin Types in particular the Dry Skin Type. Dry refers to a skin that lacks or is devoid of oil.
Dehydration is a Skin Condition in which the skin is water ‘dry’ NOT oil ‘dry’. Just as you get thirsty during the day so does your skin!
Why is a hydrated skin so important for your skin health?
Your skin requires high doses of water in order for skin enzymes, proteins, chemical processes and cell signalling to be conducted at optimum levels for the skin to function.
A dehydrated skin requires saturation of moisture using potent doses of ingredients known as Humectants. Humectants hold and lock water in the skin to prevent moisture from evaporating and allows the skin to maintain a supple, dewy and youthful radiance. The most effective humectant is Hyaluronic Acid which can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water!
